Physical Therapy begins with an individualized “hands on” approach.  On the initial visit the physical therapist will perform an in-depth examination, develop an individualized plan of care that promotes mobility, reduces pain, restores function and prevents disability. The therapist and patient will work together to achieve their goals.  Therapeutic exercise and functional training are the cornerstone of physical therapy treatment. Depending on the needs of a patient, the physical therapist may manipulate, mobilize or massage a particular joint or muscle to promote proper movement and function.  Physical therapists may use other techniques such as electrotherapy, ultrasound, hot and ice packs in addition to other treatments when appropriate.  Together, the patient and therapist will work to prevent loss of mobility by developing fitness and wellness-oriented programs for a healthier active lifestyle.

  • One-on-One time: a therapist will spend time with each patient, develop an extensive customized exercise program which will focus on strengthening and stretching.
  • Modalities: based on patient need they can receive electric stimulation, ultrasound, infrared laser, heat or cold compress to assist in their recovery
